The Asian Religions & Cultures series seeks to encourage interdisciplinary approaches to the religions of Asia as cultural phenomena. The series will emphasize the cultural dimensions of religion in two senses: the specific cultural settings that shape Asian religions and the theoretical notions of culture that influence the study of religion.

Through publication of works that draw on the methods and findings of a variety of disciplines, the ARC series seeks to foster an academic study of Asian religions that escapes the intellectual ghettos of eastern spirituality and oriental wisdom, moves beyond the disciplinary compartments of Asian studies and religious studies, and enters into the broader discursive fields of the humanities.

The series publishes the proceedings of ARC conferences, research resulting from ARC fellowships, as well as independently produced manuscripts across a broad range of Asian religions and humanities. To order ARC series publications, contact Stanford University Press. For inquiries on manuscript submissions, contact the editors at ARC. Titles in the series will be listed on this page as they are announced.
